GROM (bi-metal) band saw for wood
Characteristics of the material of which the GROM band saw is made:
- backing strip: carbon tool steel containing alloying elements
such as carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium (hardness 47÷52 HRC) - blade: cap made of M42 steel (hardness 66÷68 HRC)
Working conditions of GROM band saw:
- recommended: unbarked mortised wood, frozen wood, hardwood
- possible to use: non-barked cleaned wood, medium-hard wood
- not recommended: debarked wood, soft wood
Instructions for using the GROM band saw:
- tension: 170 - 175 MPa, recommended use of FENES TPT-67 strain gauge
- lapping: work at a feed rate of 50% (10 minutes)
- cooling: the saw requires ample cooling to avoid overheating
- setting: 0.45 - 0.50 mm per side, depending on the species of sawn wood and the width of the belt (setting at 1/2 the height measured from the top), recommended using the FENES RPT-60 setting tool
- feed rate: 2 - 8 m/min. depending on the species and purity of the wood
- cutting speed: approx. 30 m/s
- sharpening: recommended using SZLIF BORAZON grinding wheel adapted to the geometry of the FENES blade, with oil cooling, recommended using FENES OPT-60 sharpener
- workingtime: about 3 hours of operation + 12 hours of rest of the saw first sharpening; after about 3 hours of operation of the saw - check the dilation, recommended use of a device for measuring the dilation of teeth
